Peace education is an integral part of a Montessori curriculum. It encompasses lessons that have to do with emotional awareness, conflict resolution, respect for one’s self and environment. Many of the most essential “Practical Life” lessons in our classroom address these concepts.
Academic Curriculum: In addition to the essential “Practical Life” lessons, the Montessori curriculum is enriched with Sensorial, Math, Language and Cultural lessons.
Outdoor environment: This school is perched on top of a hill surrounded by Ponderosa trees. Children have ongoing access to the outdoors for lessons, play and encounters with the natural world. We are often visited by deer, wild turkeys, countless bird species and pollinators.
Pottery: With clay, children can explore the basics of bead making, pinch pots, slab work, and sculpting. There is an on site kiln for firing their creations.
Food Preparation: In line with Montessori’s belief that students learn the most through purposeful work, students are involved with the preparation of their healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch. Clean up too!
Parent Reviews:
Maria is so sweet. She cares tremendously for my daughter. She is present and attentive. Maria makes a healthy breakfast, a snack, and lunch which, makes my life a lot easier! The classroom is GORGEOUS. It is a calm and serene place. It feels relaxing and safe. Everything is easy to access by little ones, even the bathroom has a working miniature toilet. My daughter comes home with stories of great experiences playing outside. She has been collecting natural artifacts and making art with them, she loves it! She also loves using her choice of the different color strider bikes available to the children. Every time I pick up my daughter, she is engaged in some new activity! Maria always makes the effort to tell me about her day, what she did and how she was feeling. Today, my daughter was a goof-ball!
